Meeting Minutes 19 November 2014

General

  • Approximately 30 members and guests met at 7:00 pm. The meeting was held at the Chicago Maritime Museum located in the Bridgeport Arts Center, 35th at Racine, Chicago.

Board and Committee Reports

  • President - Bob Rushman welcomed everyone.
  • Secretary– Beth Plotner reported on the minutes.
  • Treasurer – Julie Scheibe reported the balance.

Business Meeting

  • Illinois Department of Natural Resources – No updates.
  • Illinois Railway Project - Sam Polonetszky was not present.
  • ICSSD –The 2015 underwater competition will be held on March 22. Club Appreciation Night will be held in February at Mr. Beef and Pizza in Mt. Prospect and is open to all.
  • Chicago Maritime Museum – This Friday November 21st will be the monthly talk from 6-10.
  • Wreck Checker – No updates. John Gerty would appreciate articles.
  • Website – A few updates have already been made more are underway.
  • Christmas Tree Ship play –The outing will be on December 13th matinee performance followed by optional dinner at Cullens. Tickets are $38.  The optional dinner will be and additional $18.
  • Holiday party will be January 10th at Bucco de Beppos in Elmhurst, 6 PM. Tickets are $42 with a cash bar.
  • Speakers – Bob Rushman asked for help with speakers.
  • Next meeting is January 28th and the guest speaker is TBD.

Other Business

  • Carol Summer’s presented an idea for a UASC flag for us to display at shows but urged the attendees to submit ideas for an actual flag.
  • Election of officers
  • Slate: President – Bob Rushman
  •           Vice President – Rob Hughes
  •            Secretary – Carol Summers
  •            Treasurer – Julie Scheibe
  • There were no nominations from the floor and it was moved and seconded to approve the slate and the slate was approved by acclamation.
  • Surveys – Ideas were discussed regarding survey projects as to what we’re going to do going forward. 

These ideas included:

o   Collecting all previous work done reports, videos, scripts of videos

o   Finish all the surveys in progress

o   Developing a UASC library

o   Suggestion to limit the number of ongoing projects at any one time.

 

Featured Speaker: Chet Childs and Keith Pearson           

Chet and Keith will be presenting on Chet’s recent visit to the National Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida where several aircraft are currently being restored, some of which could possibly include the WWII planes recovered from Lake Michigan.
