Hey Everybody, Two quick reminders regarding the October meeting:

  1. The meeting is TONIGHT, Wednesday October 24th, not next week, due to Halloween. 6th floor of the Helix building, refreshments at 6:30, business at 7:00, Fred Neuschel speaking on the Christmas Tree Ship at 8:00. See my past e-mails or http://www.uaschicago.org for fulldetails.

  2. If you are coming to the meeting and also planning on attending the Christmas Schooner play at the Mercury Theatre, please bring a check with you to the meeting for $38 per ticket, payable to UASC. We can also take credit cards, but we pay a small service fee when we do.

Please note that our October meeting is ONE WEEK EARLIER THAN USUAL, on October 24th instead of the 31st, to avoid conflicts with Halloween. This month we will be holding a special joint meeting with the Chicago Maritime Museum, in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Rouse Simmons. Our meeting this month will again be in their facilities on the SIXTH floor of the Helix Building, 310 S. Racine at Jackson. Short version:  UASC will meet this Wednesday, Sept 26th, on the SIXTH floor of the Helix Building, 310 S. Racine at Jackson.  Social hour will start at 6:30 with some light refreshments, business at 7:00, and at 8:00 our special guest speaker will be Peter Hirthe, President of the Wisconsin Marine Historical Society, who will speak to us about Lake Michigan schooners.
