Hello,

Come join the UASC (Underwater Archaeological Society of Chicago) for our next meeting, this Wednesday, October 30th, at the Chicago Maritime Museum, 1200 W 35th St, Chicago, IL. This is in the Bridgeport Art Center Building.  Enter at the door under the awning that says North Entrance off the north parking lot and go downstairs.  We will start the meeting at 7:00pm.

Our speaker this month, Phil Hehn, will present on the railroad carferry services that once were a vital step in shipping across Lake Michigan. He will bring the experience of the railroad carferry services to life through video shot in the 1950’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Come and enjoy these highlights of the last era of lake shipping operations. The C&O, C&NW, AA and GB&W railways made this freshwater highway move. By breaking up lanes in the ice, the rail car ferry, Viking, helped keep service going even through the colder months. Come see and hear what it was all about!

See you there,

Colin Bertling
UASC President
